Guestbooks

Maybe you’ve been to a wedding and noticed a small book on your way in… what is that?? A guestbook, of course! A guestbook is a place where guests are able to acknowledge their presence at a wedding by signing their name, postal address, and well-wishes for the bride and groom. The newlyweds will most likely take a look through this book once and then set it on a shelf for the rest of their lives. What a waste! Although I love the traditional aspect behind a guestbook, I wanted to take a look at some fun alternatives that would be both practical and sentimental!

Last Name Sign

All you have to do is find a piece of wood, stain it, and write your last name and “est. 20__” on the blank slate. Have all of your guests sign it and then you can hang it in your foyer! I love this idea because you can use it as a decoration in your new home and will be able to look back on the day every time you pass by it.

Highlight Your Favorite Bible Verse

Are you looking to have a family bible? This one is a wonderful idea for you! Buy a journaling bible and ask your guests to sign their name beside their favorite verse! Your guests will be able to share encouraging verses and insight to you and your significant other for years to come.

State Cut-Outs

Have you and your significant other been long distance? Are you from different states? Make a wood cut-out of each state and ask your guests to sign one of the states! You can use this one as wall décor for your new home, as well!

Time Capsule

Ask your guests to write well-wishes or advice on a piece of paper and place the notes into a “time capsule.” This could take the form of a cute jar that would look perfect on any open shelving! Open some of the notes on your 1st, 5th, 10th, and 20th anniversary for a trip down memory lane.

Something Unique to You!

The best thing to incorporate into your wedding is something uniquely special to you! It ties in a personal element that will make your day more like you. If you love music, ask your guests to sign some records. If you love football, ask your guests to sign a football. Find something that you love and make it into your guest book! The possibilities are endless!

Did you have a guestbook that was different from the norm?? I’d love to hear about it! Leave a comment below or message me and tell me what you did! (:
